144
3-dart checkout
Strategy
The 144 checkout (T20, T20, D12) is the second classic nine-darter finish — used when the final visit follows 180, 180, and 177 (instead of the more common 180, 180, 180 route). Two treble 20s keep you in the same area of the board, giving you rhythm and consistency. D12 sits on the right side of the board between D9 and D5. If your first T20 drifts into S20, you're on 124 — a tricky three-dart finish. The beauty of 144 is its simplicity: T20, T20, and a double. No switching between different treble targets, no bullseye needed. It rewards pure consistency at the top of the board.
Alternative Routes
The standard route T20 → T20 → D12 is the most commonly used combination for 144.
Pro Tip
D12 sits between D9 and D5 on the board. A miss inside to S12 leaves you on 12 (D6), maintaining a double finish. The D12 area is relatively spacious, making it a comfortable finishing double.
