Strategy

A high-pressure checkout. Hit T20, T14, D20 in sequence. Focus on the trebles first — if you miss, you may still leave yourself a workable finish. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 142 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. If your T14 lands in S14, you'll need 82 with 2 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 11 or 9 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 142 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.

Alternative Routes

Besides T20 → T14 → D20, alternative routes include: T14 → T20 → D20. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.

Pro Tip

D20 (tops) is the most practiced double, but missing inside to S20 leaves you on 20 (D10) — still a clean single-dart finish. Train this double by focusing on the very edge of the board.
