If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 147 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. If your T17 lands in S17, you'll need 87 with 2 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 2 or 3 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 147 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
