How a remote match works

You don't need to be in the same club, or even in the same country.

Send a challenge
Pick a club mate from the list, or create an invite link and share it in WhatsApp, Messages or email. The link works for 24 hours.

Meet in the lobby
You both see whether the other is connected and has a camera on. Choose who throws first or let the app draw it. The match starts when you have both tapped "I'm ready".

Point a camera at your board
Use the phone you score on, or pair a second phone as the board camera: open tallypally.app/cam on it and type the code, or scan the QR code. No camera? Play with scores only.

Throw and enter your score
On your turn you enter your score as usual. On your opponent's turn you watch their board, and their score appears on your phone as soon as they enter it.

Every remote match goes into your match history, so you can look back at who won and how.

What you need

Nothing special. Most players already have all of it.

A dartboard each, at the right height and with the oche at the right distance, so it's a fair match.
A phone, tablet or computer to keep score.
A camera that sees your board: the phone you score on, a spare old phone, or a webcam if you score on a computer.
A free TallyPally account for both players.
An internet connection. Wi-Fi is best for video.

Good to know

Remote play is for 301, 501 and 701. Remote cricket isn't available yet.
Ranked remote matches are only between members of the same club.
Each player enters their own score. The camera is for watching; it doesn't score the darts automatically.
Without a camera you still see each other's scores live.

Questions people ask

Can I play darts online with a friend for free?

Yes. TallyPally is free, with no adverts and no paid tier. Both players need a free account.

Do I need a webcam?

No. A phone camera is enough, and a second phone can film the board while you score on the first. You can also play with scores only, without any camera.

How do I invite a friend who isn't in my club?

Create an invite link on the remote match screen and send it in WhatsApp, Messages or email. Anyone with a TallyPally account can join, from any club. The link works for 24 hours.

Which games can we play remotely?

301, 501 and 701, first to the number of legs you choose. Cricket can't be played remotely yet.

Does a remote match count towards my ranking?

Yes, if you are both members of the same club and choose a ranked match. Other remote matches are practice and don't change your ELO.

How does my opponent see my score?

You enter your score on your own phone and it appears on your opponent's phone straight away. If the caller is on, it is also announced out loud.
