140
3-dart checkout
Strategy
A high-pressure checkout. Hit T20, T20, D10 in sequence. Focus on the trebles first — if you miss, you may still leave yourself a workable finish. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 140 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 80 with 2 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 140 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
Besides T20 → T20 → D10, alternative routes include: T20 → T16 → D16. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.
Pro Tip
D10 is a solid finishing double. A miss inside to S10 leaves you on 10 (D5) — still on a double. Located in the lower portion of the board, it requires a slightly different arm angle than D20.
