Strategy

The famous Champagne Shot — 132 checkout (T20, T16, D12). It gets its name from the tradition of buying champagne for the oche when you hit it. This finish requires hitting two different trebles (T20 and T16) before a double 12. The tricky part is the switch from T20 at the top of the board to T16 on the lower-left side. T16 sits between 8 and 7 on the board, so a miss left lands in S8 and a miss right hits S7. Some players prefer the alternative T20, T12, D18 route, keeping the finish double higher up the board. The 132 is hit regularly in professional darts — it's considered the threshold checkout that separates good amateur players from serious competitors.

Alternative Routes

Besides T20 → T16 → D12, alternative routes include: T20 → T12 → D18. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.

Pro Tip

D12 sits between D9 and D5 on the board. A miss inside to S12 leaves you on 12 (D6), maintaining a double finish. The D12 area is relatively spacious, making it a comfortable finishing double.
