A high-pressure checkout. Hit T19, T16, D12 in sequence. Focus on the trebles first — if you miss, you may still leave yourself a workable finish. If your T19 lands in S19, you'll need 129 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 3 or 7 segments changes the equation significantly. If your T16 lands in S16, you'll need 72 with 2 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 7 or 8 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 129 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
The standard route T19 → T16 → D12 is the most commonly used combination for 129.
Pro Tip
D12 sits between D9 and D5 on the board. A miss inside to S12 leaves you on 12 (D6), maintaining a double finish. The D12 area is relatively spacious, making it a comfortable finishing double.
