A straightforward two-dart checkout: S13, D20. Hit the single to leave yourself on the double. If you miss D20 into S20, you're left on 20 — which is D10, keeping the pressure manageable. 53 is a common finishing score that appears in nearly every leg of 501 or 301.

The standard route S13 → D20 is the most commonly used combination for 53.
Pro Tip
D20 (tops) is the most practised double, but missing inside to S20 leaves you on 20 (D10) — still a clean single-dart finish. Train this double by focusing on the very edge of the board.
