A three-dart checkout requiring a treble. Aim for T19, S10, D16. The treble is the key dart — hitting it sets up a straightforward finish. If your T19 lands in S19, you'll need 99 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 3 or 7 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 99 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.

The standard route T19 → S10 → D16 is the most commonly used combination for 99.
Pro Tip
Finishing on D16 is the gold standard in darts. If you miss into S16, you halve to D8. Miss D8 into S8? You're on D4. This cascading safety net is why top players always try to set up a D16 finish.
