100“Ton Out”
2-dart checkout
Strategy
The Ton Out — one of the most satisfying two-dart finishes in darts. Just T20, D20. Both darts target the 20 segment: first the treble ring, then the outer double ring at the very top of the board. Since both targets are in the same vertical line, this checkout requires minimal horizontal adjustment. If your T20 lands in S20 instead, you're on 80 (T20, D10) — still a clean two-dart finish. If you drift into the 1 or 5 adjacent segments on the treble, you leave yourself on odd numbers that make the checkout harder. The key is a smooth, consistent throw action focused on the top of the board. In professional 501, players frequently arrive at 100 after a string of 140s and 180s — it's a score that says "the leg is nearly won."
Alternative Routes
The standard route T20 → D20 is the most commonly used combination for 100.
Pro Tip
D20 (tops) is the most practiced double, but missing inside to S20 leaves you on 20 (D10) — still a clean single-dart finish. Train this double by focusing on the very edge of the board.
