Strategy
A three-dart checkout requiring a treble. Aim for T17, S18, D16. The treble is the key dart — hitting it sets up a straightforward finish. If your T17 lands in S17, you'll need 101 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 2 or 3 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 101 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
The standard route T17 → S18 → D16 is the most commonly used combination for 101.
Pro Tip
Finishing on D16 is the gold standard in darts. If you miss into S16, you halve to D8. Miss D8 into S8? You're on D4. This cascading safety net is why top players always try to set up a D16 finish.
