Strategy
A two-dart checkout: T16, D12. Hit the treble first to set up the double. If your T16 lands in S16, you're left on 56 with 1 dart to go. A miss sideways into the 7 or 8 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 72 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
Besides T16 → D12, alternative routes include: T20 → D6. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.
Pro Tip
D12 sits between D9 and D5 on the board. A miss inside to S12 leaves you on 12 (D6), maintaining a double finish. The D12 area is relatively spacious, making it a comfortable finishing double.
