118
3-dart checkout
Strategy
A three-dart checkout requiring a treble. Aim for T20, S18, D20. The treble is the key dart — hitting it sets up a straightforward finish. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 118 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 118 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
Besides T20 → S18 → D20, alternative routes include: T18 → T12 → D8. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.
Pro Tip
D20 (tops) is the most practiced double, but missing inside to S20 leaves you on 20 (D10) — still a clean single-dart finish. Train this double by focusing on the very edge of the board.
