109
3-dart checkout
Strategy
A three-dart checkout requiring a treble. Aim for T20, S17, D16. The treble is the key dart — hitting it sets up a straightforward finish. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 109 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 109 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
The standard route T20 → S17 → D16 is the most commonly used combination for 109.
Pro Tip
Finishing on D16 is the gold standard in darts. If you miss into S16, you halve to D8. Miss D8 into S8? You're on D4. This cascading safety net is why top players always try to set up a D16 finish.
