106
3-dart checkout
Strategy
A three-dart checkout requiring a treble. Aim for T20, S14, D16. The treble is the key dart — hitting it sets up a straightforward finish. If your T20 lands in S20, you'll need 106 with 3 darts remaining. A miss sideways into the 5 or 1 segments changes the equation significantly. You'll encounter 106 frequently in competitive 501 and 301 play.
Alternative Routes
Besides T20 → S14 → D16, alternative routes include: T20 → S6 → D20. The best choice depends on which area of the board you're most confident in.
Pro Tip
Finishing on D16 is the gold standard in darts. If you miss into S16, you halve to D8. Miss D8 into S8? You're on D4. This cascading safety net is why top players always try to set up a D16 finish.
