A straightforward two-dart checkout: S5, D8. Hit the single to leave yourself on the double. If you miss D8 into S8, you're left on 8 — which is D4, keeping the pressure manageable. 21 is a common finishing score that appears in nearly every leg of 501 or 301.

The standard route S5 → D8 is the most commonly used combination for 21.

D8 is part of the D16 halving chain and a well-practiced double for most players. Missing into S8 leaves D4, keeping you in the halving sequence. It's located on the left side of the board.
