Strategy

The 160 checkout (T20, T20, D20) is the highest finish that doesn't require the bullseye, making it more achievable than 161-170. Your first two darts target the same treble 20 bed, which means you stay in the same area of the board — a big advantage for rhythm and consistency. If your first T20 hits, you're in a great position. Even if it lands in the single 20, you drop to 140 which is still a three-dart checkout (T20, T20, D10). The D20 finish is at the very top of the board, right above where you've been aiming for your trebles — a natural transition that makes this one of the most fluent high checkouts.

Alternative Routes

The standard route T20 → T20 → D20 is the most commonly used combination for 160.

Pro Tip

D20 (tops) is the most practiced double, but missing inside to S20 leaves you on 20 (D10) — still a clean single-dart finish. Train this double by focusing on the very edge of the board.
