D16
EasyDouble only

Strategy

Double 16 — widely considered the best double on the board and the foundation of smart checkout strategy. Here's why: if you miss D16 and land in S16, you're left on 16 — which is D8. Miss D8 into S8? That's 8, which is D4. Miss D4 into S4? You're on D2. This "halving" sequence means every miss still leaves you on a double. No other starting double offers this cascading safety net. Professional players deliberately set up their checkouts to finish on D16 whenever possible. Even Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen consider the 32 checkout area their "home." If you're going to master one double, make it this one.

Alternative Routes

There's only one way to checkout 32: D16. No alternatives exist for single-dart finishes.

Pro Tip

Finishing on D16 is the gold standard in darts. If you miss into S16, you halve to D8. Miss D8 into S8? You're on D4. This cascading safety net is why top players always try to set up a D16 finish.
