2“Madhouse”
1-dart checkout
Strategy
The Madhouse — double 1, the smallest and most feared double on the dartboard. Landing on 2 usually means something has gone wrong: you've missed several doubles and ended up here through a series of unfortunate halving. D1 is physically tiny — the narrowest segment on the entire board. A miss outside goes off the board (try again), but a miss inside hits S1, leaving you on 1 — which is a bust, since you can't finish on a single. This means there's zero margin for error on the inside. The psychological pressure of D1 is immense: players know they "shouldn't" be here, and the anxiety compounds the difficulty. Pro tip: take a breath, focus on the very top-center of the D1 segment, and throw with the same smooth action you'd use on any other double. Many matches have been lost in the madhouse — don't let yours be one of them.
Alternative Routes
There's only one way to checkout 2: D1. No alternatives exist for single-dart finishes.
Pro Tip
D1 is positioned between D20 and D18 on the board. Practice this specific double to build confidence for match situations.
