How to Play Around the Clock Darts

Learn how to play Around the Clock darts (Kellotaulu) — a classic practice game where you hit every number from 1 to 20 and finish with Bull. Rules, solo timer mode, and multiplayer race.

Objective

Around the Clock (Kellotaulu) is a darts game where you must hit every number on the board in order, from 1 through 20, and finish by hitting the Bull. It's a great way to practice accuracy across the entire board.

Setup

One or more players stand at the oche. Each player starts on number 1. The game can be played solo (against the clock) or as a multiplayer race.

  • Works with any number of players
  • Each player begins targeting number 1
  • No special equipment needed — just a standard dartboard

How to Play

Players take turns throwing three darts per visit. You must hit your current target number to advance to the next one. Singles, doubles, and trebles all count — any segment of the target number works.

  • Hit number 1, then 2, then 3… all the way to 20, then Bull
  • Any segment counts: single, double, or treble of the target number
  • If you hit your target, you immediately advance to the next number
  • You can advance multiple numbers in a single visit if you hit them in order
  • Darts that miss the current target don't count, even if they hit a future number

Solo Mode

In solo mode, you play against the clock. The app times how long it takes you to get from 1 through 20 and Bull. Try to beat your personal best! This is excellent practice for learning the entire board.

Multiplayer Mode

In multiplayer mode, players take turns and race to be the first to complete the sequence from 1 to 20 plus Bull. The first player to hit Bull after clearing all 20 numbers wins.

Winning

The game ends when a player hits all numbers 1–20 in order and then hits the Bull (inner or outer). In solo mode, your time is recorded. In multiplayer, the first to finish wins.

Tips

Around the Clock is one of the best practice games in darts.

  • Focus on accuracy, not speed — consistent aim transfers to all game modes
  • Learn where every number is on the board — this helps in 501/301 checkout situations
  • In multiplayer, don't rush — steady throws beat frantic ones
  • Use this game to warm up before competitive matches
  • Track your solo times to measure improvement over weeks and months
