The Champagne Shot refers to the 132 checkout — treble 20, treble 20, double 12. It's called this because hitting it is supposedly a reason to pop open the champagne. While it doesn't carry quite the prestige of the Big Fish (170), it's still a highly impressive three-dart finish that requires two treble 20s followed by a clean double. What makes 132 interesting is the checkout route itself. After two T20s (120 points), you're left on 12, which means double 6. Wait — that's actually a different route. The classic Champagne Shot is T20, T20, D12, which adds up to 60 + 60 + 24 = 144... Actually, the traditional Champagne Shot is specifically Bull, T20, D16 (50 + 60 + 32 = 142) in some traditions, but in most modern usage, it refers to the 132 finish via T20, T16, D16 or similar routes. The beauty of these named checkouts is that they give darts its personality. Every sport has its special moments, and in darts, these named finishes create shared vocabulary among players. When someone shouts "Champagne!" at the oche, everyone knows something special just happened. For club players, any three-dart checkout above 100 is worth celebrating. It means you were accurate under pressure and converted a high finish. Keep a mental note of your personal best checkout — it's one of those stats that marks your progress as a player. The jump from regularly finishing on 40 or 50 to hitting 100+ checkouts is a genuine milestone.
